Stainless steel jewelry — you don't have to think about it

Shower in it. Swim in it. Take it to the sea, take it to the gym, do the dishes in it. You never need to take it off. Stainless steel doesn't rust, doesn't tarnish and won't turn your skin green. That's exactly why we chose it.

The one optional habit: after the sea or the pool, a rinse under clean water and a wipe with a soft cloth keeps the day-one shine. Nothing is damaged if you skip it.

Gold-plated jewelry — the exception

Plating is a thin layer of gold over another metal, and it does eventually wear. So the rule is the opposite here: take gold-plated pieces off before the shower, the pool, the sea and the gym, and keep them away from perfume, hairspray and cream. Put your products on, let them dry, then put the jewelry on.

Keeping it all looking new

Stainless steel: a soft cloth, or a quick pass under warm soapy water, then dry. That's it.

Gold plate: soft dry cloth only. No soaking, no long baths — plating can't be repaired once it's gone.

In both cases, never use toothpaste, vinegar, baking soda or any abrasive powder. Those tips you see going around scratch the surface instead of cleaning it.

And store your pieces separately, in their pouch, rather than loose together: it's pieces rubbing against each other that cause the fine scratches.

Knitwear and sweatshirts

Wash inside out at 30°C on a gentle cycle. Don't tumble dry — lay flat to dry so the shape holds. Iron on low, and never directly on a print or a glitter detail.

Printed and glitter pieces

Always wash inside out, cold, and never iron over the design. Skip the tumble dryer.

Bags

Wipe faux leather with a slightly damp cloth, then dry it straight away. Keep bags out of direct sun for long periods and store them stuffed with paper so they keep their shape.

Shoes

Wipe with a soft damp cloth and let them dry away from any heat source. For suede-look finishes, use a dry brush rather than water.
